A Musical Family Life
Flaus Music Studio is a home studio in McCandless, PA, run by Michelle Shine-Flaus and Zachary Flaus. Both of us trained at Duquesne University — Michelle in music education, Zachary in music education and cello performance. Between the two of us we cover flute, clarinet, piano, violin, viola, and cello, which means a family with two students on two different instruments only has to make one trip.

OUR VISION
We don't run students through a single method book at a fixed pace. The first lesson is a conversation: what do you want to play, what have you already tried, and what's getting in the way. From there we build a plan around fundamentals that actually matter — posture, tone, intonation, reading, and ear training — and we pull repertoire from wherever the student's interest lives. Classical, yes. Also film scores, folk, pop, and game soundtracks.
Michelle has over eight years experience teaching in public schools, running K–5 general music and directing 4th and 5th grade band and orchestra. That means we know what your child's school ensemble expects, what a district audition actually asks for, and how to close the gap between the two.
